$150 for the Intel Core i3-14100 “Raptor Lake Refresh”
ShopBLT is the first merchant to feature Intel’s Core i3-14100, the entry-level 14th Gen Core desktop processor, for $150.24. Based on the same H0 silicon as the Core i5-12600, which is physically devoid of E-cores, the 4-core/8-thread CPU includes solely performance cores (P-cores). Since 2013, Intel has been using the same “Alder Lake” hardware in non-K versions of its Core i3 and Core i5 processor SKUs, which are now in their 14th generation. Their 1.25 MB dedicated L2 caches for P-cores are one method to identify them, as opposed to the 2 MB on the 8P+16E “Raptor Lake-S” silicon that was used to carve out Core i7 and Core i9 SKUs across the 13th and 14th generations.
There is a slight speed increase available with the Core i3-14100 compared to the i3-13100. Compared to the i3-13100’s 3.40 GHz and 4.50 GHz, this device’s base frequency is set at 3.50 GHz, while its boost frequency is most likely at 4.70 GHz. The four P-cores share a 12 MB L3 cache and each has 1.25 MB of L2 cache. With a dual-channel DDR4/DDR5 memory interface, PCIe connection including a Gen 5 x16, a CPU-attached Gen 4 x4 for NVMe slots, and a DMI 4.0 x8 chipset bus, the chip receives the same I/O as the rest of the range. The available iGPU is the UHD Graphics 730, which is based on the Xe-LP and has 24 EU, as opposed to the 32 EU that comes with higher desktop CPU models of the 14th generation. The CPU base power of the chip is 60 W, while its maximum turbo power is 110 W. In January 2024, Intel is anticipated to reveal their range of locked 14th Gen Core desktop processors, which should include the i3-14100 and its less expensive sister, the i3-14100F, which is devoid of integrated graphics.
