According to a source titled “Moore’s Law is Dead,” NVIDIA’s next-generation GeForce RTX 50-series “Blackwell” gaming GPUs are expected to launch in Q4 of 2024, towards the end of 2024. Given that each GeForce RTX generation typically enters the market for two years—the RTX 40-series “Ada” appeared in Q4 2022 (October 2022) and the RTX 30-series “Ampere” in late-Q3 2020 (September 2020)—this timeframe is straightforward to forecast.

According to NVIDIA’s 2024 roadmap, the RTX 40-series SUPER will make its debut in Q1 and will be refreshed in the upper half of the lineup by three high-end SKUs. According to the MLID research, there will be a lesser generational performance uplift for “Blackwell” over “Ada” than for “Ada” over “Ampere.” We can see why this is the case given that the profits from AI HPC GPUs outpace those from gaming GPUs by a factor of five, and AMD is reportedly pulling out of the enthusiast market with its upcoming RDNA4.
