Microsoft announced the end of support date for Windows 10 in October 2025.

The most widely used PC operating system in the world, Windows 10, will reach EOS (end of support) on October 14, 2025, according to a Microsoft announcement. The company will no longer release the so-called “patch-Tuesday” updates for Windows 10 or regular security updates for the operating system after that date. The client Windows 10 editions are the only ones covered by this announcement; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (long-term servicing channel) and special editions of Windows 10 for large enterprises and government agencies are not covered. The Extended Security Update (ESU) program is available to organizations using client editions of Windows 10 Pro. It provides access to critical security updates but excludes new operating system and software features. Microsoft used the occasion to strongly advise users of Windows 10 to switch to the most recent version of Windows 11, called Windows 11. The business intends to release Windows 12, the next generation, sometime in 2024.
