The GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition cards from NVIDIA are already being shipped with an upgraded 12VHPWR connector called 12V-2×6, as we revealed a few weeks ago. But as of today, NVIDIA is also offering the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition with an upgraded 12V-2×6 connection for purchase. Thanks to a post by Reddit user u/prackprackprack in the NVIDIA community, the user discovered that the connector’s sensing pins on his Founders Edition RTX 4090 have been shortened. The detecting pins prevent the card from drawing full power and melting the connector if it is not properly plugged in. The RTX 4090 FE is now updated as well, which makes sense because it is the family’s most power-hungry card. However, this might only be a partial implementation of 12V-2×6.
