AMD Is Allegedly Bringing Back the “Discontinued” B650 Chipset Due to DIY Cost Variations

In late summer, reports surfaced indicating that AMD leadership informed its motherboard manufacturing partners regarding an impending discontinuation of the long-standing B650 chipset. At that time, supposed “clearance plans” aimed for an end window of October 2025—facilitating B850 supremacy. The two generations have coincided in retail availability, yet Team Red appears to aim to enhance the newer design’s status. By late November, contradictory information emerged on the Chinese Board Channels. A brief report indicated a renewed vitality for the AM5 platform aimed at the mid-range market: “AMD has verified that the B650 chipset will remain available and that motherboard makers will keep acquiring it.” The B650 and B850 series will persist in working together to satisfy customer needs.
