Price reduction for AMD Ryzen 7 7700X to $299

AMD reduced the cost of its Ryzen 7 7700X 8-core/16-thread “Zen 4” CPU following the release of its Ryzen 7000X3D series. The 8-core 7800X3D won’t be available until April 6; the Ryzen 7000X3D series is available as of February 28. Despite this, the 7700X’s sales prospects may be harmed because it faces competition from the recently released 65 W Ryzen 7 7700, which has good potential for overclocking thanks to motherboard-level power limit unlocks, as well as the 7800X3D. The 105 W 7700X is interesting since, at $299, it costs less than the 65 W 7700, which debuted at $325. This suggests that the 7700 could become much more affordable. Through a succession of price reductions and SKU repositioning, AMD may be able to compete with Intel’s 13th Gen Core i5 SKUs such as the i5-13600 and i5-13500 6P+8E models.
