The list of supported NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 GPUs has been expanded to Vulkan 1.4.
Last December, Khronos released version 1.4 of its Vulkan graphics API, which at the time was thought to have been created with NVIDIA “Blackwell” GPU compatibility in mind, according to industry watchdogs. The GeForce RTX 5090 SKU was previously listed as supported by the Vulkan API, according to a mid-January leak. GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 GPUs have recently been officially added to the cross-platform API’s compatibility register, indicating an impending retail launch. According to insiders, the 5070 Ti is expected to arrive on February 20.
The development team of HWiNFO announced last week that they were preparing an upcoming update (8.21) that will support Team Green’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU. The lower-specced GeForce RTX 5070 (non-Ti) was left off of their list of “upcoming changes”; internet rumors suggest that this model will be released later in February. An hopeful indication is the GeForce RTX 5070’s inclusion on the most recent Vulkan API conformance list. Over the weekend, VideoCardz looked for any listings referring to GeForce RTX 5060 Ti or GeForce RTX 5060 (non-Ti) SKUs, but they found nothing. These less expensive models are probably being kept under a “confidential” heading by the Khronos developers.
