The GameStream feature for NVIDIA’s Shield TV products is being discontinued.

NVIDIA will stop supporting its GameStream function on its Shield TV sets by the middle of February 2023. Shield TV owners can now stream games from their PC to their Shield TV thanks to the GameStream functionality. Even while it wasn’t the Shield TV’s standout feature, its cancellation has nevertheless generated a lot of online discussion. NVIDIA didn’t give a rationale for terminating the GameStream feature, although one can speculate that it intends to compel users to adopt its GeForce NOW subscription streaming service in its place.

NVIDIA does advise customers to use Steam Link in place of this, so they may stream games from their PCs to the Shield TV. However, this would restrict consumers to Steam-exclusive games, which doesn’t seem like a very good compromise. Since NVIDIA Share and Steam Link are compatible, users that stream their games shouldn’t have any issues continuing to do so while using the Shield TV.
