Unveiling Intel’s New Boxed Desktop CPU Cooler

We now know how Intel’s two new retail boxed CPU coolers will appear before they ship thanks to serial leaker @momomo_us, who discovered the product pages for them. The Laminar RH2 and Laminar RM2 are the names of the two coolers, with the RH2 being the more expensive type. An RGB LED ring and a white Intel LED logo adorn the RH2’s copper heat column, which is attached to aluminum fins. It measures 103 × 103 mm in size, weighs 450 grams, and is 71 mm tall from the bottom of the heatsink to the top of the fan. CPUs up to 65 W TDP can use it, and the fan runs between 1000 and 3000 rpm with PWM control for variable speed. According to the specifications, it will produce 23 dBA at 1600 RPM with the CPU at 40 degrees Celsius. It is fastened into place and seems to have some sort of rear plate. For the time being, it will only come with the Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285.

The considerably simpler RM2 cooler, which is 100 × 100 mm in size but just 47 mm tall, is made for 65 W TDP CPUs. Here, the cooler’s weight is reduced to 340 grams because only the base is composed of copper and the fins are once more made of aluminum. The fan has a speed range of 600 to 3250 rpm, and a PWM-controlled fan is also being considered. The drawback is that, with a 65 W CPU below, the fan must run at 2400 rpm to achieve the same 40 degrees at the intake, resulting in a noise level of 30 dBA—much louder than the RH2. The RM2 mounts using regular Intel socket push-pins, in contrast to the RH2. According to the product page, the RM2 will also come with some Core Ultra 7 desktop chips, but it will also come with the Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor 225, 225F, 235, 265 and 265F CPUs. There is a three-year warranty on both coolers. Both of the new coolers have far simpler designs than the Intel CPU coolers from the previous generation.
