The most economical AM5 CPU is the AMD Ryzen 5 7400F, which costs $116 in China.
With a price tag of 849 RMB (about $116 with taxes), AMD’s most economical AM5 processor, the Ryzen 5 7400F, has made its debut in Chinese retail channels. According to the pricing, the processor might sell for about $100 before local taxes in other regions. With six cores and twelve threads, the most recent CPU to be quietly announced joins AMD’s Zen 4 processor family. The chip runs at a 65 W TDP and has the same 32 MB L3 cache as its predecessors. Its base speed is 3.7 GHz, with boost capabilities up to 4.7 GHz. The Ryzen 5 7400F will be sold directly to customers through standard retail channels, in contrast to the previous 7500F, which was only available to OEMs and system builders. The standard box of the processor comes with a simple AMD Wraith Stealth cooler.
The processor supports common AM5 platform capabilities, such as Precision Boost Overdrive for CPU performance tuning and AMD EXPO for memory overclocking. It retains unlocked multipliers for manual overclocking, just like other Ryzen processors. Following AMD’s recent trend of stealth releases, the 7400F looks a lot like the Ryzen 5 9600 that debuted at CES 2025. The CPU was not formally announced before to its market release. Although distribution in other locations is still unknown, early listings indicate that the processor is accessible through a number of Chinese shops. AMD’s AM5 platform may become more affordable for customers on a tighter budget thanks to its reasonable price point, but prospective purchasers will still need to account for the cost of the DDR5 RAM and AM5 motherboards that the platform requires.
