When AMD’s entry-level Radeon RX 7600 GPU was released in May of last year, it received mixed reviews from reviewers. Fans of Team Red felt that the RDNA 2 generation offered better “budget” options. As anticipated, AMD’s board partners released customized Radeon RX 7600 8 GB cards; but, at launch, the reference design was scarce. W1zzard, TPU’s resident graphics card reviewer extraordinaire, noted that a “Made by AMD” (MBA) model was scheduled for direct sale through official AMD web sites, “as well as through its board partners, with minimal re-branding.” Plans were (supposedly) derailed when 8-pin power cord insertion concerns were found; review outlets notified AMD of these issues before the introduction.
AMD has begun to sell its Radeon RX 7600 reference design through official European channels, according to a recent VideoCardz report: “AMD has struggled to generate significant interest in the card nearly a year after its launch, despite the initial promise of offering the RX 7600 directly to gamers through their webstore.” Additionally, there hasn’t been a significant price adjustment; the card still retails for $269 (in the US). It turns out that Germany may now get the Radeon RX 7600 MBA.” As of this writing, a number of European shopping portals are showing costs of €295 (about $318) and €300 (about $324).
Prospective buyers will need to compare the advantages of AMD’s additional time invested in resolving the flaws in the reference design against partner versions that have been validated in the market and feature custom cooling.
