Within the “Granite Ridge” Ryzen 9000 X3D lineup, AMD’s forthcoming Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor has been observed operating with 9,800 MT/s DDR5 memory, positioning this late-cycle “Zen 5” SKU exceptionally high for its category. The AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D offers 8 cores and 16 threads, 96 MB of L3 cache, and has a boost clock reaching 5.6 GHz, along with a TDP of 120 W. What distinguishes this processor is more than the 400 MHz boost compared to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D model, which has identical cache and core setup. AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series officially supports DDR5 memory speeds of up to 5600 MT/s, but if the reports are correct, this model could reach 9,800 MT/s.
AMD may leverage the higher-binned IODs it has gathered in recent months to provide a strong competitor to Intel’s forthcoming “Arrow Lake Refresh,” planned for early 2026, and “Nova Lake,” expected in late 2026. Given that the “Granite Ridge” family officially endorses significantly lower DDR5 memory speeds according to JEDEC standards, an improved or more rigorously tested IOD might allow for these 9,800 MT/s speeds.
