Rebadged as RTX 4070 Ti, the canceled NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 12GB was scheduled to arrive in January.

NVIDIA had initially intended to release both the GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB and the now-cancelled RTX 4080 12 GB in mid-November, but after receiving harsh criticism from the media and social media for the confusion the “RTX 4080 12 GB” branding would cause due to a significantly different hardware configuration from the RTX 4080 16 GB (limited not only to the memory size), the company decided to postpone the release of the RTX 4080 12 According to reports, something had to be done because NVIDIA’s board partners had already produced a sizable quantity of RTX 4080 12 GB cards. The partners might be rebranding, and the new name will be “GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.”

The RTX 4080 12 GB will be renamed as the RTX 4070 Ti, claims kopite7kimi, a trustworthy source with NVIDIA leaks. According to VideoCardz, the card will probably be released in January 2023. The RTX 4080 12 GB, which runs on 12 GB of 23 Gbps GDDR6X memory (504 GB/s bandwidth), features 7,680 CUDA cores, 60 RT cores, 240 Tensor cores, 240 TMUs, 80 ROPs, and a 192-bit wide memory interface. It is based on the 4 nm “AD104” technology. The RTX 4080 12 GB was initially expected to go on sale for USD $900. It will be interesting to see if NVIDIA has the guts to charge $900 for a product in the xx70 class. At this pricing, AMD is releasing the Radeon RX 7900 XT.
