Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT GPUs May Launch in September, According to a Leak
More leaks have come from sources in Asia as we approach closer to a potential late summer/early autumn availability window for mid-range AMD Radeon RX 7000-series gaming graphics cards. According to Benchlife, “in addition to Radeon RX 7900 GRE, AMD and its AIB partners are also preparing two Navi 32 chip graphics cards, such as Radeon RX 7800 XT and Radeon RX 7700 XT, which are expected to be made available in early September.” A September release is anticipated, albeit the RX 7800 XT SKU will have a highly modified Navi 31 GPU, according to earlier leaks.
Leaked benchmark results have lately shown two non-XT units, suggesting that there may be a good selection of alternatives ready for a third quarter 2023 debut. Jon Peddle Research (JPR) also added their two cents, reiterating the possibility that Team Red may present mid-range models during a trade event in the latter part of the summer: At Gamescom in late August, AMD is supposed to introduce two new 7000-series AIBs. According to the leaks, AMD has open spots in its SKU selection and is behind NVIDIA in terms of AIBs. The RX 7800 and RX 7700 may compete with the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti, respectively, according to the leaked benchmark data (see below). JPR claims AMD is putting together at least two mid-range models for release, however this number may rise to five. Where would the rumored fifth possibility fit in the hierarchy if it existed in addition to the frequently stated RX 7700, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800, and RX 7800 XT SKUs? Since the RX 7900 16 GB GRE GPU appears to be limited to the Chinese market and is expected to perform just marginally better than the RX 7900 XT, we can rule it out.
JPR added, “AMD first priced the RX 7900 XTX higher than anticipated, but once sales slowed, AMD dropped the price. Similar to the RX 7600, which had a street price of $269 at launch. Similar circumstances may arise with the projected RX 7800 and RX 7700 ASPs, but starting high and dropping in price is preferable to starting low and trying to increase pricing. The JPR comparison table of leaked Navi specs is shown below:
