In terms of single-threaded performance, Intel’s next flagship Core i9-13900KS “Raptor Lake” CPU outperforms the i9-13900K by 5%. Leaked benchmarks show the i9-13900KS getting 2366 points in the Cinebench R23 single-thread test, as opposed to the i9-139002243 K’s points, the i9-13900 (non-Kimpending )’s 1948 points, and the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X’s leading 2057 points. This translates to a 5.43% increase over the i9-13900K and a strong 15% increase over the 7950X for the i9-13900KS. Between the i9-13900KS and i9-13900K, the multi-threaded score is 3.3% higher on the i9-13900KS.
The Core i9-13900KS triumphs thanks to its higher frequency—its P-cores can boost up to 6.00 GHz, compared to 5.80 GHz for its predecessor—and improved boost state residency provided by its 150 W processor base power. Lower clock speeds of up to 5.60 GHz P-core boost and power caps of just 65 W PBP and 221 W MTP prevent the locked Core i9-13900 from performing at its full potential. Intriguingly, the 7950X is seen to be outperforming even the i9-13900 in the multi-threaded test, scoring roughly 1.6% higher. It performs slightly worse on single-threaded tasks than the 7950X. In its keynote speech at the 2023 International CES, Intel is anticipated to reveal the i9-13900KS with locked 65 W 13th Gen Core processors and 13th Gen Core mobile processors. Product availability is anticipated later in the month.
