Tom’s Hardware chose to look into this contentious issue by contacting reliable sources. Less than an hour ago, their findings were released—stating: “two industry insiders who prefer to remain unnamed, one from a major U.S. distributor, (believe) that there are no signs of upcoming price changes for Ryzen processors, and no proof indicates such adjustments are forthcoming, despite recent speculation.”

Currently, shortages in computer memory have led manufacturers to evaluate pricing, distribution, and release plans for their products. It is said that AMD is nearing the completion of price increases for its current mainstream GPU series—potentially adding $20 to the 8 GB versions and a $40 increase for the 16 GB variants. The most recent report suggests that “Granite Ridge” and “Raphael” Ryzen prices will hold steady for now, due to the public’s view of AMD’s new decisions. Tom’s Hardware described the situation: “SSDs, graphics cards, memory, and processors are not as affected by price variations due to NAND shortages….the chip producer (AMD) might be postponing changes on processor prices to avoid more customer dissatisfaction, assuming there was any slight validity to the rumor initially.” A brief examination of standard North American and European online retail sites reveals approximately $20 to $30 increases across current Ryzen CPU series, yet it is hard to determine if these fluctuating patterns are merely spikes from Black Friday/Cyber Monday starting points.
