“Granite Ridge” AMD Zen 5 CPUs are reportedly in mass production.
At last week’s CES trade show, AMD focused on promoting their new Zen 4-based APU products. They even threw in a few new Zen 3 offers for PC fans who are more than happy to continue with Team Red’s previous generation AM4 socket. People who were interested in the future were a little let down by Team Red’s silence regarding their upcoming “Zen 5” CPUs at CES 2024; one information seeker, Peter Weltzmaier, turned to a well-known source of hardware leaks on X. Weltzmaier asked about the status of AMD’s impending “Granite Ridge” desktop CPU family, and Kepler was more than eager to respond. Kepler has a reasonable track record of giving reliable inside information.

Although Kepler did not elaborate further beyond a quick social media response, he believes Granite Ridge has entered the mass production phase. As such, this information should be regarded with a grain of salt. Since late November, when AMD decided not to showcase next-generation desktop CPUs during a December “Advancing AI” event, we have not heard much about Granite Ridge processors. Rumor has claimed that Granite Ridge and its mobile-focused counterpart, Fire Ridge, would not include the crucial Ryzen AI acceleration based on XDNA.
