Early Time Spy Benchmark Results for AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Are Inconclusive
From AsRock’s announcement to a recent Geekbench leak that placed the RDNA 4 GPU ahead of the RX 7600 XT by a reasonable margin, AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9060 XT has been in the news several times before the anticipated retail launch. However, a gaming benchmark from 3DMark Time Spy now shows that the RX 9060 XT almost matches the RX 7700 XT. As drivers develop and stabilize, those results may yet improve. u/uesato_hinata, who obtained an XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB and shared their findings on r/AMD on Reddit, is the source of the benchmark results.
The redditor who published the statistics was using beta drivers and a moderate GPU overclock and undervolt, so there are some limitations to these performance numbers. They state that “+200mhz clock offset -40mv undervolt +10% power limit, I can get 3.46Ghz at 199 W.” However, the RX 9060 XT achieves a good score of 14,210 points in 3DMark Time Spy with those performance adjustments. On the same benchmark, the average RX 7700 XT receives 15,452 points. Even though GPU utilization appears to be consistently high in the 3DMark monitoring chart, suggesting that there was little bottlenecking limiting the performance, it should be noted that the gaming PC used in the RX 9060 XT benchmark in question was powered by a rather outdated AMD Ryzen 5 5600 paired with mismatched DDR4-2133 RAM. This means there is probably at least some performance left on the table. After benchmarking the GPU in Black Myth: Wukong, the redditor found that, with most settings set to high, it averaged 64 frames per second at stock clocks at 1080p. vUsing the overclock raised the minimum FPS from 17 to 23 but only increased the average FPS to 65. Additionally, since AMD is releasing both 8 and 16 GB versions of the RX 9060 XT with varying GPU clock speeds for the various memory configurations, these figures won’t be indicative of the performance for all RX 9060 XT GPUs.
