Based on the desktop Arrow Lake-S, Intel Readies the Arrow Lake-H Laptop CPU SKU with 24 Cores.

Intel looks to be planning a new line of high-performance CPUs for gaming laptops as it gets ready for the release of its Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processors. It appears that the company is modifying its desktop-grade Arrow Lake-S processors for ultra-high performance notebooks based on recent advances. Buzz started when X user @InstLatX64 saw that Intel was experimenting with a strange motherboard with the label “Arrow Lake Client Platform/ARL-S BGA SODIMM 2DPC.” This finding raises the prospect that Intel may be able to fit up to 24 cores—eight more than the typical Arrow Lake-H mobile chip’s 16 cores—into laptop CPUs. Intel hopes to provide high-end notebooks with a BGA laptop CPU that delivers desktop-class performance by fully exploiting Arrow Lake-S technology in a mobile form factor.

Along with an embedded Xe2 GPU, the leaked chip is expected to have 16 energy-efficient Skymont E-cores and eight high-performance Lion Cove P-cores. In a portable form, this architecture might offer the raw power required for demanding gaming and professional applications. Nevertheless, there are difficulties in putting such potent hardware in laptops. The TDP of the processors is anticipated to be 45 W or 55 W, however in order to maintain high clock rates, actual power consumption may exceed these estimates. Success will rely on Intel’s CPU architecture as well as the power delivery and cooling strategies created by laptop makers. Specifics regarding clock rates and performance indicators are still being kept under wraps. The leaked test chip had a base frequency of 3.0 GHz and was noticeably devoid of AVX-512 compatibility.
