At 8.8 GHz, the Intel Core i9-13900K sets a new world record for overclocking.
Overclockers from all around the world got their hands on a few samples of the newly released Intel Core i9-13900K processor to make history. According to the HWBot submission, a Swedish overclocker by the name of “elmor” was able to achieve an amazing 8.812 GHz on Intel’s top-end consumer SKU. The AMD FX-8370, which dates back to the now-defunct AMD Black Edition processor era, previously held the record for the single-highest overclocking speed for more than eight years. Liquid nitrogen (LN2), which has a temperature of 195.8 °C, was used to cool the chip during the overclocking effort. bus speed of 100.15 MHz, multiplier set to x88, and core voltage pushed to 1.325 Volts. Elmor used an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX motherboard, 32 GB of DDR5 GSKILL RAM operating at 4808 MT/s, with an Intel Core i9-13900K processor.
As a recall, the FX-8370 CPU held the top spot with a speed of 8.722 GHz for eight years. It will be fascinating to see if any of the next CPU SKUs will match this overclocking record because it only surpassed the FX-8370 by 90 MHz. We’re also interested to see if any challengers will surpass Elmore’s current record.
