AMD Will Stop Supporting Windows 10 on Its Ryzen 9000 “Strix Point” Mobile CPUs
With respect to their next-generation mobile processors, AMD is said to be pulling driver support for Windows 10 starting with the next Ryzen 9000 “Strix Point” (and potentially “Strix Halo” and other chips from the generation). As a result, the SoC parts, the iGPU, and the XDNA 2 NPU would not have official drivers. As there won’t be any official AMD drivers, notebooks and pre-built SFF desktops powered by these chips won’t typically come with Windows 10 preinstalled. However, those who are comfortable with manual driver installation may be able to get the Windows 11 drivers to work on Windows 10.
With Windows 10, Ryzen 9000 “Strix Point” CPUs should still function quite well. Nevertheless, this does not apply to the future Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” desktop CPUs, which feature little hardware that requires drivers other than the very minimum iGPU that they come with. On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will stop providing regular upgrades for Windows 10. Extended security update plans are required for anyone who wish to keep using the operating system, and they increase more expensive every year.
