AMD Ryzen Threadripper with “Zen 5” Surface Powering 9975WX and 9965WX
For some time now, we have been aware that AMD is producing a full range of workstation and HEDT processors using the “Zen 5” microarchitecture as part of the Ryzen Threadripper 9000WX series, also known as “Shimada Peak.” NBD is spotting these chips in shipping manifests because engineering samples of them are being moved around for industry and regulatory validation. Entry-level SKUs such as the Threadripper 9975WX and 9965WX are among the models found. The 9965WX has 24 cores and 48 threads, whereas the 9975WX has 32 cores and 64 threads. Regular “Zen 5” CCDs with 32 MB on-die L3 caches are present in both chips. The processors are anticipated to provide 128 PCIe Gen 5 lanes and 8-channel DDR5 memory interfaces as a WX-series SKU.
