AMD Reportedly Raising 8GB, 16GB GPU SKUs by $20-$40

AMD is completing its strategy for raising GPU prices by the end of 2026. A recent report from Chinese Board Channels indicates that AMD plans to raise the prices of its 8 GB SKUs by $20, while the 16 GB versions will see a $40 price hike. In total, players are anticipated to experience a price hike of 300 RMB ($42) for 8 GB variants and 600 RMB for 16 GB models, which amounts to almost $85. The rise in memory prices alone will lead AIBs to implement these previously mentioned price hikes, validating what we have been hearing in the industry lately, with information from PowerColor and additional sources.

Board Channels China : AMD has officially announced a price increase for its graphics cards, with a significant increase expected this year. It is reported that several AMD graphics card brands have officially notified their channels to prepare inventory. The first wave of price increases will be $20 for 8 GB and $40 for 16 GB, with an estimated overall increase of around 300 RMB for 8 GB and 600 RMB for 16 GB by the end of the year. No new products will be launched throughout 2027.

Interestingly, the report highlights that no new products are set to launch before 2027, although we assume this pertains to the consumer GPU sector. We need to wait and observe how that reveals itself. Moreover, only a few days ago, AMD’s AIB partners were said to have been notified about a proposed 10% price hike by AMD. AIBs are predicted to act similarly in the upcoming weeks to preserve their profit margins. GPU makers, such as AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel, combine their GPU chips with GDDR memory and deliver them to AIBs as a complete package. When AMD boosts GPU prices, it is usually because of higher expenses for the DRAM included with the GPUs, whereas the prices of AMD’s raw silicon have stayed steady for now.
