A little improvement in performance over “Arrow Lake” is provided by Intel’s “Panther Lake” Core Ultra X7 358H.

Intel’s “Panther Lake” will launch in early 2026, as Intel and its collaborators showcase the initial laptop designs. The Panther Lake family seems to provide a slight enhancement compared to the earlier Core Ultra 200 series “Arrow Lake-H” mobile processors. Current PassMark results reveal that the Core Ultra X7 358H SKU, which consists of 4 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, 4 LPE-Cores, and 12 Xe3 Cores, demonstrates a minor improvement compared to the similar “Arrow Lake” SKU, the Core Ultra 7 255H, that has 6 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, and 2 LPE-Cores. In PassMark evaluations, the Panther Lake architecture demonstrated a -1.4% decline in single-core score while showing an almost 4% rise in multicore score. The decline in the single-core score is probably a result of using an engineering sample for this benchmark.

“Panther Lake” takes the place of “Lunar Lake,” and in this case, performance enhancements are significantly greater, while reportedly offering similar or better power efficiency, a notable advantage of “Lunar Lake.” The Core Ultra X7 358H shows comparable single-core performance and a greater than 37% increase in multicore score. Up until the official launch, it is presumed that Intel has not delivered mass-production chips to vendors and OEMs. Moreover, the Core Ultra X7 358H SKU features a stated single-core boost of as high as 4.8 GHz, in contrast to 5.1 GHz for the Core Ultra 7 255H and Core Ultra 9 288V SKUs. Although there are IPC enhancements in Panther Lake, the differences in clock speed appear to be the main factor contributing to the performance variation. In addition, the software might not be fully optimized for the latest platform.
