A 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper “Shimada Peak” 9985WX CPU was found in the shipment document.
An industry insider tip from May 2023 said that AMD was preparing a new line of Ryzen Threadripper High-End Desktop (HEDT) processors. “Shimada Peak” was then associated with a potential launch in 2025. Shipping manifests over the following years have shown that 9000 SKUs were transferred between Team Red sites, beginning with an enigmatic 96-core prototype. With the apparent “9995WX” designation, industry watchers have been looking for more recent proof of AMD’s next-generation flagship “Zen 5” Threadripper CPU.

A new leak late last week revealed the 9985WX, a possible sub-flagship SKU. Everest (also known as Olrak29) discovered this purported 64-core SKU in a shipment manifest alongside its siblings, the 9955WX (16-core) and 9945WX (12-core). The same source discovered two other entry-level versions, the 9975WX (32-core) and 9965WX (24-core) components, as reported by TechPowerUp on March 21. Regretfully, new shipping documentation did not include Team Red’s claimed gigantic 96-core 9995WX processor. Industry observers anticipate AMD will replicate its previous generations’ product lineup, which includes entry-level 12-core models and the previously mentioned 96-core range-topper. According to the most recent leak, 350 W TDPs and the SP6 socket type should be used (across all product identifiers).
