AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D now costs $539.99 at Newegg.

As TPU reported yesterday, Newegg recently dropped the price of AMD’s top desktop Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor from $749.99 to $629.99. For buyers who are eager to upgrade to some of the greatest enthusiast silicon currently on the market, the $70 reduction off MSRP represents a 10% savings. However, this offer is only valid through Newegg’s Ebay site. The step-down variant, Ryzen 9 7900X3D, has also received the same % discount from the online retailer (at some point today), lowering its price to $539.99 in accordance with the amended Ebay listing.

When considering the (presumably temporary) Newegg price reduction, the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D CPU appears to offer less value in terms of cost per core/thread when compared to its more capable 16-core brother ($40/$20). This results in a per core pricing of almost exactly $45 ($22.50 per thread). TPU has not yet reviewed AMD’s Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor, but the general impression seems to be that it is overlooked because it sits in the center of the less capable and more affordable Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the more capable 7900X3D. It’s probable that Newegg is attempting to promote the purchase of the highly pricey models with its most recent price offers because the latter have not yet been lowered (across the North American hardware market).
